Superintendent recognizes board members and four retirees

The MFL MarMac School Board was recognized for their hard work during the Monday, April 10 meeting.

April is School Board Recognition Month and Superintendent Dale Crozier handed out awards that showed appreciation for the board members and their hard work.

“I am happy, privileged and humbled to work here,” Crozier said.

Crozier went on to say that he is “happy with our school board” and expressed his gratitude for their dedication to education. The MFL MarMac School Board comprises of president Gina Roys, vice president Sharon Greener, Colin Stubbs, Jonathon Moser, Tonya Meyer, Brian Meyer and Josh Grau.

Crozier then addressed the four staff members that will be retiring at the end of the 2017 school year. The four retiring members are special educator Jonelle Kann, second grade teacher Roberta Hass, special educator Marcia Miller and agricultural teacher Doug Martin. The four staff members have about 120 years of combined teaching experience. Crozier mentioned that he was “sad to see these people leave” but was happy with the work they had done.

The School Board decided to raise the pay of substitute teachers to the area average of $100 a day. The new rate will create a competitive way to entice substitutes to making the trip to Monona or McGregor. The pay for long term was also raised from $110 to $120. Long-term means any substitute that has a 10-plus day deal will get additional pay.
