School board approves contracts, reviews assessment data

MONONA — The MFL/MarMac School Board Monday reviewed test data and approved several contracts while preparing for the 2017-2018 school year.

Third-grade teacher Jen Wilwert reviewed data from the 2016-17 Iowa Assessment, noting that local students fared best in math and not as strongly in reading. The test also measures proficiency in math and social studies.

Every grade except second-grade demonstrated 79 percent or better proficiency in science while all but four grades had 75 percent or better proficiency in math and all but two levels at 70 percent or better proficiency in social studies. Reading proficiency saw all but three grades hitting or exceeding the district goal of 75 percent.
