North Carolina wins NCAA basketball championship; Parker wins Outlook contest
The 2017 March Mania Contest is now history and with North Carolina winning the championship game last Monday night, the winners in the Outlook’s contest have been determined.
Diana Parker, of Monona was the first place winner with 104 total points. She topped the field of 130 entrants as her nearest competitor was nine points back.
Coming in second was Janice Berns with 95 points. Bob Ward, who had 92 points, was the third place finisher to round out the money winners.
Others in the top ten were Jim Tayek, 90; John Johngblut, 88; Ray Vangen, 84; Melodie Deutsch, 83; Ron Fox, 83; Darwin Johnson, 82; Michael Egan, 81 and Nicole Tayek, 81.
With the 130 entrants coming from all over Northeast Iowa and a few from Southwest Wisconsin, 38 correctly picked North Carolina to win the championship game.
Parker received $100 for first place while the second and third place winners receiving $50 and $25 respectively.
