Clayton County Pork Producers hand out annual awards

 

  The Clayton County Pork Producers hosted their annual banquet Sept. 22 at Johnson’s Reception Hall in Elkader. Drew Mogler, the public policy director for the Iowa Pork Producers Association, was the speaker at the event, talking about issues facing the pork industry.

  The Pork Producers also handed out their annual Master Pork Producer award, Appreciation Award and Restaurant Award. Backwoods Bar and Grill of McGregor was the recipient of the Restaurant Award while Tim Orr received the Appreciation Award and Monona’s Cory Donlon was the recipient of the Master Pork Producer Award.

  In addition, the Pork Producers named their Pork Queen, and Little Miss Pigtails. Kristen Willenborg, the daughter of Chad and Annette Willenborg of Guttenberg, was named Pork Queen while Abigail Schilling, the daughter of Colesburg’s Bob and Peggy Schilling, and Ashley Schilling, the daughter of Colesburg’s Steve and Janell, were named 2019 Little Miss Pigtails.

  Scholarship awards were also presented to three recipients. Emma Ehlers is the daughter of Richard and Jodi of Edgewood and is attending Iowa State University studying Ag business and economics. Willenborg is attending NICC focusing on agricultural studies while Macie Weigand, the daughter of Adam & Lisa Weigand of Monona, is attending Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson Kan. studying animal science.
