Bulldogs rally from eight down to extend winning streak

MONONA — MFL MarMac rallied from an eight-run deficit in the rain Wednesday to extend its longest winning streak in nine years with a 12-10 victory over Central in the second game of a doubleheader in Monona.

The Bulldogs (13-7 overall, 10-2 Upper Iowa Conference) also edged the Warriors 3-2 in the opening game of the twinbill and took a pair from Clayton Ridge earlier in the week.

Central, which came into the doubleheader with just two wins in its first 21 games, took advantage of circumstances to build its lead. The Warriors drew eight walks in the first inning and one-third against MFL MarMac’s starting pitcher, scoring three times on bases-loaded free passes and two other runs on wild pitches.

The Bulldogs began to come back in the third as Brinan Berger and Jordan Schubert had runs batted in during a three-run rally.
